Tabor Heights UMC welcomes our new pastor, Rev. Don Barnhart!
Don has served as an ordained elder in the Oregon-Idaho Conference for over 30 years. He previously served the Harrisburg-Coburg, Centenary-Wilbur, Forest Grove, Aloha, and Oak Grove congregations.
Don grew up in Spokane, Washington. He graduated from Hillsboro High School following his family’s move to Oregon. Don met his future spouse, Beverly, in a high school physics class. They have been happily married for 35 years. Bev is presently employed as a senior program manager at IBM in Beaverton.
Our new pastor received his Master of Divinity degree from Yale and also holds a Master of Theology degree in world religions from Harvard.
Don has served the Annual Conference as Chair of the Board of Global Ministries, Chair of the Metro District Board of Location and Building, and is presently serving on the Metro District Board of Ministry.
Don’s personal interests include raising and training German Shepherd dogs, hiking, cross-country skiing, learning foreign languages, and listening to jazz and classical music.
